Do I need any experience to join?
No, absolutely not. In fact, we love beginners! They keep the Halifax swing scene alive and well!
Do I need a partner?
No partner required! We rotate between partners frequently during classes, and we encourage dancing with as many others as possible. However, it is also acceptable to dance with a single partner.
How much is it to get in for lessons?
You can join a series of lessons for $15 for two weeks and $30 for four weeks. You can also drop in for a lesson at our weekly swing factory for $5.
What if I'm not a Dalhousie University or University of King's College student?
We welcome you with open arms! The society prides itself on a diverse membership, and has members coming from all walks of life around Halifax (and beyond!). There is no one too young or old, too big or small, too different to enjoy some good old-fashioned swing dancing.
Why aren't pictures of me published on the website?
For the sake of maintaining consistent quality throughout the website, all photographs must pass a quality test in order for them to be published. Too dark, or too blurry, and they don't make it, unfortunately.
What's your biggest event every month?
Why, the Swing Factory at 1300 Oxford St, of course! It has gotten so popular that we have changed it to a weekly event! It's our largest turn out every week, every time! New dancers and experienced veterans of the dance all gather here for an evening full of dance and merriment!
What about every year?
There is a highly-anticipated weekend every November. Our main event is Swing with the Fishes, and is part of The Halifax Lindy Exchange weekend. Details are usually available as that time gets closer. This is an event you don't want to miss!
