About West Coast

‘West Coast Swing (WCS) is a partner dance with roots in Lindy Hop. West Coast Swing can be danced to almost any music written in 4/4 time at speeds ranging from very slow to very fast.’
‘It can be done slow and sexy, smooth and sophisticated, or fast and rhythmically to most types of music, including Top40, R’n’B, classic Swing, Jazz, Funk, Blues, Pop, Country & Western and Hip Hop. People of all ages can use it anywhere, anytime, to any kind of music. You can dance it in a Club, at a wedding, or in a restaurant and have the staff tip you for entertaining their guests!’

West Coast Swing is coming up at DKSC, and here are our highlights of our evening. Friday night, join us for a pre dance class - Let it Roll - at 7pm to get the basic and intro into West Coast Swing. Social dancing then starts at 8:30pm. Saturday is the full day workshops from 9:45am to 3:45pm (registration starts 9:15am). In addition, on Saturday there will be another social dance for WCS from 7pm to 9pm at the same location as the Saturday workshops. (Come practice the new moves you've learned in class!) Sunday will be back with workshops again from 9:45am to 3:45pm. More dancing is done this weekend – Lindy Hop and Blues!
